The real challenge of agriculture and all other uses of the land is that of having to pursue not only utility but also Beauty, the only way to achieve stability.

A similar obligation belongs to the farmer, who must cooperate, within the limits of his possibilities, to preserve the biotic integrity of his community and the culture that rests on it.

As a member of the community, he is also the ultimate beneficiary of both of these aspects.
